Family Matters of Greater Washington and WJLA (ABC News, Channel 7) and NewsChannel 8 are pleased to announce a media partnership in honor of the 50th anniversary of Camp Moss Hollow to support and promote the 2016 “Send A Kid to Camp” campaign.
The partnership will include interviews and feature segments appearing on WJLA and NewsChannel 8 about the camp and is impact on area youth. It will also include the participation of WJLA and NewsChannel 8 anchors at key events, including Family Matters’ upcoming May 26 Gala which will pay tribute to the 50th Anniversary of Camp Moss Hollow.
Award-winning journalist Leon Harris, who anchors the 4 p.m., 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts for ABC7/WJLA-TV will be honored as the 2016 Mary Alice Stoddard Community Service Awardee at the gala. Passionate about improving the lives of children, Leon hosts a weekly segment entitled Harris’ Heroes which profiles adults helping kids in the DC metro region. The series runs every Wednesday evening during ABC7 News at Five.
Julie Wright, host of WJLA’s week day morning show “Good Morning Washington” and NewsChannel 8’s popular talk show “Let’s Talk Live,” will serve as emcee of the gala.
