Senior Independence

July is time filled with family events surrounding Independence Day. This patriotic month is a special time to reflect on the true meaning of “independence.”

The elderly wrestle for independence as they recognize the limitations of their bodies. With a lifetime of wisdom and invaluable lessons to help shape a burgeoning community, seniors matter. Independence is a basic human right that is valued by all. For an elderly person, independence means something very precious. A major component of independence is feeling in control. Approximately, 9 out of 10 people over age 65 want to continue living in their own homes.

Physical and mental activity keeps seniors’ bodies and minds in motion. Family Matters works to promote senior accessibility in Greater Washington. We offer a range of services that satisfy a seniors’ basic needs, ranging from improving mental and emotional well-being to physical health.

Family Matters is a resource for Senior Independence and a proud leader in the field of geriatric social services. We are committed to protecting and defending the rights of our older neighbors.
