Ward 8 – Senior Services

Seniors Matter at Family Matters of Greater Washington

With a lifetime of wisdom and invaluable lessons to help shape a burgeoning community, seniors matter. And Family Matters is proud to be a leader in the field of geriatric social services. Help Family Matters continue to enrich the lives of D.C.-area seniors and ensure that they thrive during their golden years by making a donation today.

Family Matters provides services for seniors at several Ward 8 senior centers, with a grant and partial oversight from the D.C. Office on Aging. A hub of Ward 8 senior activities and professional services, these sites are a home away from home for the hundreds who visit daily for congregate meals, socialization with their peers, and the following services:

  • Group exercise & health education
  • Nutrition education
  • Case management & counseling
  • Art therapy (visual & movement)
  • Sign language classes
  • Assistance acquiring listening aids
  • Group transportation to shopping centers & theaters

Ward 8 senior centers are open Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome.
