Summer Camp


Camp Moss Hollow is located in Markham, VA on 400 acres of beautiful woodland area, 70 miles west of Washington, DC.  Affectionately called “The Hollow,” the program provides year-round education, recreation, and socialization services for youth and teens, ages 7 to 15, from the Greater Metropolitan Washington, DC area.  Since 1904, Family Matters of Greater Washington has offered youth and teens from diverse backgrounds and economic situations, a fun-filled, structured camping experience.

For over a hundred years, our commitment to the value of the outdoor experience for children has not wavered with time or trends.


Summer Camp Staff

So you’re interested in spending your summer at Camp Moss Hollow?  We’re excited to hear that!  We can assure you that your experience will be just as rewarding as each camper’s.  Camp Moss Hollow engages a multi-talented, culturally and racially diverse staff that includes a full-time nurse on site.  The staff to camper ratio is 1:5.

Summer Camp Tuition & Fees

Tuition fees are based on a flat cost per week plus a once per season registration fee per child

  • Registration fee per session: $300
  • Non-Refundable down payment: $50
  • Sibling Discount: $150 per week for 2nd and subsequent campers (both campers must reside at the same physical address)

We accept cash, Visa, Master Card, money orders and certified checks. All money orders and certified checks should be made payable to Family Matters of Greater Washington.

Please Note:

  • All session fees must be paid in full one week before your child is scheduled to attend camp.
  • No refunds will be given after the session start date.
  • Payments are non-refundable for all no-shows.
  • A non-refundable registration fee of $50 is due upon registration (this registration fee is in addition to camp tuition)
  • There will be no refund on cancellations made within 2 weeks of expected arrival date. Payments are not refundable for no-shows.


The Send a Kid to Camp Scholarship Fund has been created to help individuals who otherwise would not have the opportunity to attend Camp Moss Hollow. The Send a Kid to Camp Scholarship Fund is made possible by contributions from individuals, alumni, sponsors, and others who want to give something back to the community.

Round-trip transportation is available. Bus service is provided from the immediate Washington, D.C. area to Camp Moss Hollow

It is important that parents make an appointment for their child to get a physical examination as soon as possible. All heath forms must be signed by a physician and submitted prior to the session starts.
